But that's not how the world works, and that's how those guitars can hold their values so well, when others strugle to re-sell for half price. Recently i bought a 2002 fender stratocaster standard made in mexico. i bought it really cheap, just wanted to try it and have a quick profit. I only had it for 4 days and sold it for an extra 30% of what i paid and still very cheap. But those 4 days i had it with me... oooh how i missed a strat sound. I don't own any single coil guitar at the moment, and i do miss it. i must say this was the best fender that had passed by my hands and i've owned an USA telecaster which i never liked the body porportions. And i didn't like how thick the arm was, almost a baseball bat, but it was growing in to me. And everytime i looked at it on the wall i thought "dang! i wanna play that guitar!" so it was very motivating. Ok, electronics were crap, knobs were noisy and the bridge pickup had some problem, but still i just wanted to play that guitar. And that's how a guitar should make you feel .)

So i buy a lot of guitars. I guess it's a common practice for any serious guitar player, I just like to try everything i can get my hands on. Long time ago i understood that there is other guitars beyond Fender strats and Gibson Les Paul, but having owned myself a few and played a few more i must say although there are great gibson' and fender' axes you can find as good if not better guitar for a fraction of the price.

Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child by Andy Aledort
Andy has to be one of the most accurate transcribers of Jimi, he's the closest i've heard to the album songs and explains every step on the way. Oh and i believe he also played with the band of gypsys.
check out the respective video of Andy playing. Can't be embed unfortunatly, so you'll have to jump to youtube:

Christmas Wishlist $$$
I'm not rich, in fact i'm far from being rich moneywise. But there are some guitars that I just now that someday I will have to buy them. Luckily what atracts me on guitars is also the realtion price/quality. i.e. I love the Fender Stratocaster American Deluxe, maple neck, sunburst body, but the price tag, even used is easily over €1000, so it is still a dream guitar, but simply less desireable for me, basically cause i'm realistic about it. So with christmas around the corner, I took the liberty of making my guitar wishlist. In my opinion these are the guitars that are most wanted in used condition right now. Keep in mind i'm no headbanger metal fan. I do like it and enjoy playing metal, but it's perhaps 5% of my total play time. Metal directioned guitar are just beautiful. You can play anything on them though.
ESP LTD MH-327 STR
GODIN REDLINE 3
Body has silver leaf maple centre with poplar wings
2x active EMG humbuckers: EMG-85 (neck) & EMG-81 (bridge)
For me it had to be with a maple neck, either natural, orange or the lovely green finish. There are some unique features on this guitar apart from the wook used. the active EMGs make it also a metal machine overall, but then you get peculiar things live headstock 3x3 and the body feels quite small compared to most of the guitar outthere. I tremolo is Godin, but it is one of the best copies i've seen. Although i prefer the maple neck on this one, i prefer rosewood for playing heavier stuff.
IBANEZ RG2610Z
I've been wanting one of these since i layed my eyes on it. Normally i would think that black on black with dark rosewook is boring, cause, we've seen this for years, but this one is a sweet thing.
ESP LTD MH-327 STR
with 27 XJ frets with flamed maple top in See
Through Red (STR) finish. Mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood
fingerboard, Seymour Duncan Custom-5 (bridge) /Hot Rail (neck) pickups.
this is a metal monster (but very versatile, both humbuckers split into single coil), i love the tilted hot rails and the angular finish on the end of the neck. this one s a beauty and red ones will are definitly more desireable and the used price reflects that.

Transform a Dean ML into a Star
So I've got this Dean ML Dime o Flage around, and I simply hate the artwork and the shape of it isnt exactlz my cup of tea.. "Why did you buy it then?" you might ask... Well, it was cheap. So cheap the tuners and the bridge alone are worth more than double than what i paid for the whole thing. Anyways i see a nice project on the way. I gonna try to make it look more like a Charvel Star
So I went to photoshop and did this:
I also decided to leave only the bridge pickup and one volume knob. Just like the yellow charvel up there.. What do you think people of the internet? I know Dean purists will crucify me but i genuinely think it will look better and weight a bit less ,)

Guthrie's New Charvel Prototype
It may look like a normal strat, but appart from visual design, it has few shared features with the classic fender. Still a work in progress by the words of Guthrie, the most noticeable difference being the bridge, an original floyd rose (the first designs with no fine tuners that won't get in the way of the picking hand), and also two very discreet and mysterious buttons near the tone and volume knob that he left unclear so the web could opine about.
